First AfCFTA-certified trade: Rwanda โ†’ Ghana

On September 30, Rwanda exported its first consignment under the AfCFTA โ€” Igire Coffee, a women-led coffee processing firm dealing in premium coffee, shipped to Ghana. The first AfCFTA certificate of origin was issued for this shipment. Kenya followed with Exide batteries exported to Ghana. The Initiative tests private-sector readiness, issues AfCFTA trading documents (certificates of origin, importer/exporter declaration forms), and ensures customs systems align with AfCFTA requirements.
