The Story
Founded by Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu in 2004 in her grandmother's village of Zenabwork, SoleRebels is the world's first Fair Trade-certified footwear brand. Handcrafted from recycled car tires, organic Ethiopian cotton, and sabdariffa fiber — materials that were previously burned as waste. Named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2011, Bethlehem built SoleRebels into a brand sold in 30+ countries with 100% manufacturing in Ethiopia.
