The Story
Ubuntu Life is a social enterprise in the Maasai Mara, founded by Jeremiah and Maria Kisang in 2011. The foundation employs 40 Maasai mamas who hand-bead the iconic Ubuntu sandals and jewelry. Proceeds fund the Ubuntu Life Education Center, which currently educates 120 Maasai children — many of whom are the first in their family to attend school. The beadwork follows traditional Maasai color symbolism: red for bravery, blue for the sky, green for the land.
