The Story
Lalibela Foods is Ethiopia's largest spice processing company, founded in 1998 by Dawit Abraham. Operating from a 2,000m² facility in Addis Ababa's Mercato — Africa's largest open-air market — the company stone-grinds berbere, mitmita, shiro, and korerima for domestic distribution and export to 12 countries. Lalibela Foods works directly with 300 spice farmers in the Ethiopian highlands and was the first to standardize berbere proportions for international palates.
